If u feel guilty the man child is bound to sniff that and make u feel really bad about it. And dont feel guilty, you need to do whats best for your family. It's business baby! If there were cuts, they'd lay you off and say "so sorry, it's business." I find women care SO MUCH more about their job/team/boss than anyone would ever care about them. People quit with less notice, under "worse" circumstances, etc and don't blink an eye. They've shown their cards with what they offer in terms of pay, mat leave, and bonuses, etc. Especially if you already found another option with better pay. Even my team knew how the company had repeatedly dicked me over, regarding pay, bonuses, and title changes that I was skipped over. I felt partially responsible because I loved my team (hated my boss/es) and didn't want to dump more work on them. I stayed employed only so I wouldn't lose my insurance. They didn't pay me a penny when I was out.

You have some emotions invested because you are obviously a thoughtful person. Everyone else views this from a completely black/white view. They treated me horribly for the year leading up to my leave, and I expressed concern to him leading up to my leave for almost that entire year, but the fact of the matter is I was offered a WFH job that’s paying me over $20k a year more than my hospital job.
